Heck yeah: It’s Friday, it’s sunny, and Detroit & Ann Arbor are getting three new vegan (and vegan friendly) restaurants. I’m pretty excited about this, as Detroit has been slow to embrace vegan food. And while I love places like Seva’s, Inn Season and Cacao Tree, it’s great to have new places to try.
In Corktown, Bobcat Bonnie’s menu will have a vegan counterpart for each meat dish. Like nearby P.J.’s Lager House, I’m happy to see a wide variety of places embrace plant-based food. (And The Metro Times has a great write up here.)

In Ann Arbor, the owner of vegan Indian-inspired restaurant Hut-K Chaats has opened a new vegan restaurant on Main Street. With a focus on organic and locally-sourced food, they started out with a tasty lunch menu, with plans to expand to a dinner menu as well. (Btw, they’re in the former space of Jazzy Veggie.)
And finally, I’m keeping my eyes on the Facebook page of GreenSpace Cafe. They open in Ferndale this September, and like Back2Roots, has a menu put together by a doctor and researcher.
If you’re a regular follower of my blog: yup, I’m back stateside visiting family for the summer. It’s a great time to be in Detroit.
